Connie Prince's Speed Scrap @ Gotta Pixel

What a treat! To actually be chatting with such a talented designer and participating in the speed scrap at Gotta Pixel was an amazing experience. I'm going to do it again soon.

Okay, I'm breathing normally again and wanted to show you all my page.

The kit I used is "Silence I Can't Ignore" by Bella Gypsy. A lovely kit to work with, it's so versatile. The pictures are my grandchildren, Jack & Ava, taken at the Wings of Paradise Butterfly Museum. I took them by myself (not a normal occurrence) and they were very well behaved for me. I thoroughly enjoyed the outing and I think they did, too!

Thursday Challenge at Inspiration Lane

I just saw this challenge so quickly whipped up a layout so I could play along here at the Inspiration Lane blog. Here's what we need to scraplift from, but we had to flip it up, down or sidways.

Here's my page. I flipped it horizontally and called it done. The kit I used is called, '4the boys' by Jen Yurko.

Still playing catch-up!

There was a speed scrap at Elemental Scraps yesterday. They are a lot of fun. We go into the chat room and yak and every 10 minutes the host posts an instruction. We flip over to our in-the-works project and follow that instruction. After an hour, all instructions should be provided and we then have 1 hour and 15 minutes to fine-tune and then post to the gallery. Here's my LO for the Speed Scrap:

I used the collaborative kit "Mr. Cuddle Monkey" designed by Bella Gypsy and Meredith Cardall.

Today, I decided to tackle something I've never done before. It is for the Desktop challenge. The task was to design a November calendar for the desktop. Mine is 1280 x 1024 pixels, in case you want to use it next month.

The kit used for this was Autumn Afternoon by Bella Gypsy. The font is Canadian Autumn but I don't remember when I picked it up, sorry.

Why I haven't been posting for a couple of weeks!

I was given a beautiful gift by my daughter, Tiffany, for my 60th birthday. She took me to Las Vegas for mini-vacation. The gift was given back in August, but the trip didn't take place until just this past week. We were away from Oct 15th to 18th. There was yet another surprise instore for me once we were in Vegas! My other daughter, Kirsten, made an 11-hour flight from London, UK to share this great mini-vacation with us. It seems the girls have been planning this surprise, and it was a surprise, since May. I couldn't keep pace with you girls when you were 2 and 3 and we went shopping. Guess what -- I still can't keep up, but I had a fabulous time just being with you both. Thank you so much for wanting to spend time with your old Mom. I love you for it!

Here are a couple of pages I've made so far, both for challenges, of course, at Elemental Scraps. I'm trying to catch up so I can earn as many points as possible, then I can go shopping again!

First up is It's All About Me challenge. We were tasked to use our favourite colour and, lately, mine has been this deep, rich red.

This page uses a template by Bella Gypsy from their Sketchology Parenthetical Aside set. The papers and elements are from Life Is a Beautiful Thing by Connie Prince.

Next is a What's the Word? challenge. Well, the word is 'home' and I used it twice! Here's the page.

If you want to see the world, just go to Vegas! The paper is from Dr. Octopus by Connie Prince and the upper word 'home' is from the Shades of Bliss Alpha by Meredith Cardall. The lower word 'home' is in the Porcelain font.

Kirsten, these are for you!

My daughter in the UK asked me today why I haven't posted anything lately. So my dear, just for you, here are some of the latest pages I made before we went away to Las Vegas. I'm working on some of the Vegas pages right now and will post them in a couple of days. In the meantime, here are some I made before the trip.

Scraplift Challenge

We were challenged to scraplift from Roxxygerlie. You can see her page here.

The kit I used is Falling for Her by Bella Gypsy. The font is Joyful Juliana. You can see all the Bella Gypsy products here.

Photography Challenge

This required that we take pictures of food. Not a problem as this challenge came along on the Canadian Thanksgiving weekend, so food was in abundance!

I used products that were available in the Oct 2009 Color Play at Elemental Scraps. Specifically, they are Hearts & Home, Simply Solids and Thankful Hearts by Jennifer Barrette, Sherri Tierney and Connie Prince, respectively.

Inspired By Challenge

For this challenge, there was a free kit available called Girl Time by Meredith Cardall. Thanks, Meredith, I love these colours; they're very dramatic and romantic.

Okay, that's all I have right now. As I said earlier, I'm working on some Vegas pictures and they will be up probably tomorrow. Thanks for asking, Kirsten, I definitely needed a little kick in the pants to get me back here.

I also do challenges at another online community...

Inspiration Lane has some great products and does monthly challenges as well. I completed two swaps the other day and forgot to post them. My bad!

Here is the Mini-Madness Challenge. The kit is free, you just have to use all the bits & pieces on your layout. The designer of this great mini-kit is Christie Lemon.

It's Jack, hamming it up for the camera, again! Poor kid has had a camera in his face practically every day of his life. Makes for great scrapping, though.

Next challenge was a Template Challenge. The template is courtesy of CLD, better known as Christie Lemon Designs.

These photos were taken at the Victoria & Albert Museum on my trip to London. I went with a friend, Alma, and we had a terrific time. We saw the presentation "Fashion Through the Ages", but when I took out my camera, I was promptly asked to put it away. So the marble statues will have to suffice.

The papers and elements are from the kit Seaside by ShellyRae. Beautiful kit!

"Surprise" Challenge

This morning's challenge at Elemental Scraps was a "Surprise" challenge. The surprise was that we were to use the October Color Play colours. It was easy because the colours are gorgeous. Click on the link to see the selection and, best of all, they're only $1.00 each. If that's not a deal, I don't know what is!!!

Here's my layout.

Come back later tonight because there's going to be a Speed Scrap at 12:30 p.m. EST today. C'mon over and participate.

Okay, the Speed Scrap is over and here's my LO:

The Speed Scrap began at 12:30 p.m and I had my page completed and uploaded by 2:00 p.m. No wonder they call it Speed Scrap!!

A new month and new challenges to be done...

Elemental Scraps has started October with a great new line-up of challenges for the month. I love that they do a calendar so you at least have some idea of what's coming up, especially the speed scraps. I tend to see those "after-the-fact" and miss out. You can see all of the upcoming challenges here. So far, there has been an All About Me challenge, a Scraplift challenge and a Font challenge. Of course, I've completed a LO for all three and will post them below.

All About Me Challenge

I used paper from It's Owl Good by Bella Gypsy, Starcastic Alpha by Connie Prince, fonts are Zennor LET, VTPortable Remington, and Rockwell. There were two requirements: it had to show "what can't you do without each day" and, we had to use circles in the LO.

Scraplift Challenge

The background paper is from Chill Factor by Bella Gypsy, the ribbon tabs are by Lucky Smith. The picture is of Owen and is faded into the background paper and then just his sweet little face is used in four circles using a 'bubble' style. I 'lifted' the layout from one created by michellewaite1. I think Michelle did a much better job on the small, circular photos as she was able to give them a "Andy Warhol-type look" and I haven't figured that out, YET!

Font Challenge

The font I used is Susie's Hand. Isn't it a beautiful font for journalling? The paper, stars and buttons are from Mayhem by Bella Gypsy and the frames are from Starcastic by Connie Prince. It's really my Dad and a buddy in these pictures and they were taken way back in 1943 or so, even before I was born!

Right now, I'm just sitting here waiting for the next challenge to be posted, checking the forum every 10 minutes!
